Beard Growing Contest for Sedalia’s 150th Birthday Party
The event will begin during the Sedalia Railroad Kickoff, January 23, 2010 with registration at the Lincoln-Hubbard Apartments (711 N. Osage). Registration will continue at the Parks and Recreation Office, City Hall, Sedalia Chamber Office or online until February 23th, register early though! Men wishing to enter the contest may begin to grow their beard once registration is turned in and photo has been taken by a committee member.
The contest will culminate on October 16, 2010, after the parade. Judging will be held in Liberty Park after the parade inside Convention Hall. Prizes will be awarded after the judging in the park. A ceremonial shave off will be held after the judging. If you wish to participate in the ceremony, you must bring to the event a razor or clippers and shaving cream for your personal use.
In order to be judged you must register by completing a REGISTRATION FORM at the Parks and Recreation Office, City Hall, Sedalia Chamber Office or online by the dates noted above. You must be clean shaven when you register. You must register in person. Sideburns must be groomed to the middle of the ear. Ear, nose and neck hair may be any length but may not be incorporated in the beard or mustache. Shaving will be allowed to sculpt your beard to fit a category.
Categories to be judged are:
1. Longest Beard (Measured from the chin to the end of the facial hair)
2. Best Beard
3. Best Gray Beard
4. Best Effort Beard
5. Most Unique Beard
6. Overall Chapter/Group involvement
The decisions of the judges of the 150th Beard Growing Committee will be final and remember...
